The Institute of International Education's Platform for Education in Emergencies Response (IIE PEER) hosted its first annual forum on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in New York City.

With the growing accessibility gap in education in emergencies, IIE PEER invited experts to build together a just and equitable future for displaced and refugee students. The event organised covered partnership and scholarship building in higher education as well as navigating communications within the field.

During the event, the Secretary General of the Global Platform for Syrian Students, Helena Barroco received the IIE Centennial Medal by Allan Goodman, President and CEO of IIE.
