"I’m very happy and proud to study in one of the oldest universities in the world that recently celebrated its 725 th anniversary: The University of Coimbra. Being here in Coimbra, I’ve got introduced to the city’s culture and traditions, I felt honored to wear the traditional custom (Traje) while singing in the university’s choir (CMUC) a beautiful family that have met and became a beloved member and friend.
I was lucky to meet many people who were very motivated and full of enthusiasm to raise awareness about the Syrian crisis and the refugees situation, I was asked on many occasions to share my experience and to express my feelings about living here. It was overwhelming to see the people’s reactions and emotions, they felt very proud of the scholarship and it’s contribution to help improve the educational level of the Syrian youth to help rebuilt their wounded country.
A beautiful year has passed, it was indeed a year full of amazing events, opportunities and achievements, of course none of that would have been possible without the help of the Global Platform for Syrian Students, and I’ll be always thankful to this program, not just for helping me but for helping more than one hundred students and their will to help hundreds more.
The scholarship didn’t only support our education, it took care of many other aspects of our lives. They have helped us integrate in the society through many activities, also by offering us an opportunity to learn the language. They have also helped us to get to know more about our future professions by getting us internships in some respectful companies which is very essential to build our experience."
