The Global Platform for Syrian Students participated with a group of foundations, university bodies, NGOs, government agencies, and media from Europe and North America working at the frontlines to reestablish access to higher education and support for Syrian students, in the workshop organised by the Rhodes Trust, in collaboration with the Middle East Centre at St Antony’s College in the University of Oxford
During the workshop entitled ‘Postgraduate Education for Syrian Students’ participants discussed their deep experience and shared many lessons acquired through their years of work in the region.
This workshop follows the Rhodes Trust’s first round of selection and outreach for Syrian students.
In 2016, the Rhodes Trust established two annual scholarships to enable exceptional students from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine to study at the University of Oxford. As a newcomer to this
complex space and at such a difficult time for the region, the Trust was seeking to learn from more experienced organizations to help shape practices for outreach, selection and support of Syrian
students in the years to come. Applications in annex.
