The Global Platform for Syrian Students (GP4SYS), led by former President of the Portuguese Republic, Jorge Sampaio, together with "La Caixa" Banking Foundation, signed an agreement that will allow us to provide 50 two-year scholarships to young Syrians so that they can continue their higher education studies.
With a total contribution of 710.000 Euros, "La Caixa" Banking Foundation will grant 50 two-years scholarships that will cover student maintenance expenses, accommodation and other academic activities.
These scholarships, together with the partnerships already established with the network of universities and polytechnics that are part of the GP4SYS Academic Consortium, will allow these students to start their studies in the next academic year in universities of Portugal and Spain.
During the signing ceremony of the agreement, some Syrian students already supported by the GP4SYS, gave their testimony and talked about the impact these scholarships had on their lives and those of their families.

The "La Caixa" Banking Foundation, the first foundation in Spain and the third internationally, started this year its work in Portugal, as a result of BPI's participation into the CaixaBank Group.
