Gulnar Hajo for Art From Exile 1st Exhibition held in Ankara Gulnar Hajo for Art From Exile 1st Exhibition held in Ankara Gulnar Hajo

Refugees Artists are invited to join this amazing initiative called “Art from Exile”.

The main goal of Art From Exile is to support emerging artists forced to leave their homes due to war, conflict, political violence, or persecution and find opportunities for them to be artists – to exhibit, to perform, to paint – quite simply, to create.

The first physical exhibition, Living, organised in the framework of this initiative is now up in Ankara. Art from Exile, together with Arthere Istanbul, Pages Bookstore Cafe, the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey and U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, is collaborating with seven amazing Syrian Artists: Imad Habbab, Houssam Alloum, Hiba Aizouq, Eyas Jaafar, Gulnar Hajo, Falak Al Ghazi and Samer Al Kadri, as well as with Champion, Syrian Filmmaker to screen a great documentary.

The second project implemented in the framework of Art from Exile is a Birlikte / Together. A workshop-exhibition bringing together Turkish and Syrian artists for two weeks in December at the UNIQ Gallery in Istanbul. The project is paving the way for artistic communication and future collaborations. The exhibition is up at Turkmall Sanat in Istanbul until March 30, 2017.

Through identifying exhibition spaces, curating exhibitions, creating atelier opportunities, finding workspace, and securing materials Art from Exile aims to create opportunities for emerging artists to show their work,  connect them to local artists in their places of exile, and introduce them to collectors and a broader artistic community.

The Global Platform for Syrian Students is happy to join this project together with many other local partners with the aim of organising a local project exhibition in Portugal.

Let’s use art to build resilience and hope for the future!
